A Flavour of Spain
Master Carver Ricardo Rodriguez specialises in producing high quality replicas of period pieces, and architectural wood and stone carvings usually commissioned by Interior Designers, or Architects, who are involved with conservation work.
For a number of years, he was also the official woodcarver for the Royal College of Arms, and was engaged in the production of Heraldic woodcarvings, for the Order of the Garter, and Order of the Bath, and these works, can be found at St George's Chapel (Windsor Castle).
In recent years, he has also contributed work to a number of highly prestigious restoration projects, such as: The Victoria Palace Theatre (London), St George's Hall (Liverpool), Liberty's Stores (London), Rochdale Town Hall, and others.]
His initial training took place in his home town of Toledo (Spain), where he studied Furniture Design, and Ornamental Woodcarving, followed by a four year apprenticeship, with a local cabinet making firm, it was only after he moved to England in 1980, (initially only to learn the language).
There followed a fortuitous meeting with the greatly talented sculptor and woodcarver Gino Massero, (later to become his great friend and mentor) and this inspired him to establish his own workshop.
Twenty five years on , and based in Cheshire, he continues to produce one/off items of furniture, or wood and stone carvings.
