CPS transform derelict church in to imposing hall for the Hallé!

Ecclesiastical & Heritage World CPS Halle OrchestraDoncaster based CPS is a leading manufacturer and supplier of seating and staging systems which have been professionally designed, developed, tried and tested. They have recently completed some prestigious projects in both these areas – including one for the world famous Hallé Orchestra.

The Hallé Orchestra opened a new practice base in Manchester, after successfully renovating a derelict church into an imposing performance hall. A purpose built demountable stage was required the match the ecclesiastical setting and CPS were enlisted to design and supply the equipment. The Stage was fitted with a high quality durable Karndean floor which blended in with the surroundings. The stage consisted of Alu Combi platforms used in conjunction with Alu Rapids where bespoke platforms were needed to fit around pillars.

The Villa Cross, Birmingham

Ecclesiastical & Heritage World CPS The Villa Cross ChurchThe Villa Cross, New Testament Church of God of Prophecy was a new-build church project in Lozells, Birmingham with a 1000 seat capacity. The combined Church and Community centre in Lozells was a decade in the making and built at a cost of over £5 million. The funding however was raised entirely by church supporters.

Externally, the new church building cuts an impressive figure on the corner of Lozells Road and George Street, in an area that in the past has been socially challenged due to its widely diverse cultural and ethnic population. Inside, the Church is equally as impressive with its vast auditorium spreading across the ground floor and an extensive balcony – the balcony alone including up to 11 tiers of seating.

Due to the quantities of fixed seating needed, the church was concerned that there should be minimal effect to the acoustics of such a large area. CPS’s Asset A20 proved to be the ideal chair as it is accredited by AIRO Acoustics and Noise Control; this means the seats effectively reduce sound absorption. The Asset chairs were also clad with curved plywood backs and bases also to further help the acoustics. Even the regal blue upholstery was specifically chosen to reduce sound absorption, as well as being extremely durable which meant the fabric could cope with the strain of frequent and rigorous usage.

The finished auditorium boasted chairs that were not only accredited by AIRO, but are also covered by a Lifetime Warranty.  Further to that, due to careful design every seat can expect a full vision of the stage.

Disley Methodist Church

Ecclesiastical & Heritage World CPS Disley MethodistDisley Methodist was requiring a relatively small but bespoke stage to blend with the churches existing furnishings. The system incorporated one of CPS’s bespoke solid wood communion rails, real wood veneered fascias and a carpeted deck surface.

CPS was able to tailor the stage to the churches specific requirements and manufactured bespoke platforms to create the right configuration. Overall 9 Alu Rapid platforms were used to complete the project.
