Armitage Construction - 140 years in the construction industry

"We have already started 2014 on a high and we are delighted to be celebrating our 140th anniversary within the construction industry.

Armitage Construction has roots in the industry tracing back to 1874. The Armitage family has an enviable history and reputation throughout the North West of England for delivering high quality construction and development projects to both traditional and contemporary specifications.

We are proud to have worked on some of the most prestigious buildings in the North West. To name a few, Chethams School of Music, Manchester Law Courts, Little Moreton Hall, Dunham Massey, Jodrell Bank and of course our latest project Elizabeth Gaskell’s House.

Holding the reigns today is Daniel Armitage, the 5th generation of his family to do so. Daniel states that his “greatest passion comes from taking redundant heritage buildings and transforming them to re-ignite dormant energy – to me, that’s the true definition of regeneration.”

Today, the Armitage ‘brand’ has grown to include its own Property Portfolio, Project Management division, a Facilities Management business and even an in house training operation in addition to retaining its core construction and development operations.

Our initial celebrations were held at Elizabeth Gaskell’s House. Joining our celebration were several of their trustees and the architects practice Bernard Taylor Partnership. This was then followed by visits to our sites to hand out cakes to all employees."
