Prestigious lighting projects by Madson Black
Oxfordshire based custom lighting company Madson Black have recently been involved in a number of prestigious projects including Bath Abbey and Eton College.
As part of the Footprint project at the historic Bath Abbey, Madson Black have worked for two years to bring together a chandelier restoration and conversion of light sources to LED.
Working in this amazing Grade 1 listed interior on chandeliers first installed during Gilbert Scott's restoration work in the 18th century has been technically challenging for the company.
They have combined state of the art high lumen output LEDs with what were originally gas chandeliers and in the process removed outdated and inefficient light sources whilst returning the fittings to the original splendour.
The final effect is stunning with illumination greatly improved, the chandeliers looking aesthetically correct and the Abbey fulfilling its commitment to its Footprint project.
The brief at Eton College was to design and manufacture lanterns that fitted in completely with the existing historic nature of the area. One lantern was a direct copy of other Heritage lanterns in the college and two were new designs but patinated to blend in as if always there. Madson Black's current 2013 project at Eton includes the fully refurbishment and conversion of heritage choir lights to full LED.
