Award Winning Lightning Protection Systems

Central High Rise offer a wide range of lightning protection products and services from the test and inspection of lightning protection systems to the design and installation of a full faraday cage system or the supply and installation of early streamer emission systems to new builds or retro fits.

They have a team of ATLAS accredited designers who will carry out a risk assessment to determine exactly what level of protection will be required. This is supported by a fully trained team of operatives for the installation of the system to the highest standard ensuring safety at all times.


They have fitted LP systems and their own discreet fall arrest systems to many high profile Ecclesiastical and Heritage Buildings such as Norwich Cathedral and St. Mary’s le Tower at Cambridge University.  Their fall arrest system is the only system which can also be used for rescue post fall, greatly reducing the time it takes to retrieve a casualty from height.

They have also received 9 Safety awards from RoSPA in 8 years, including an award for distinguished service for “Outstanding contribution to work to the cause of health & safety at work.”

They are accredited to a high standard with Achilles UVDB, CHAS and Exor as well as having a 10 year award from Investors in People.

 

Norwich01Lightning Protection Testing to BS 6651:1999

For lightning protection installed before August 2008 the system can be tested, inspected and maintained to the previous standard (BS 6651:1999 ‘Protection of Structures Against Lightning’).  Section 5 of the British Standard 6651 states that all Lightning Conductors and earth installations should be “Visually Inspected and tested regularly at fixed intervals, preferably not exceeding 12 months”. It is beneficial to choose a period slightly shorter than 12 months in order to vary the season in which tests are made.

Lightning Protection Testing to BS EN 62305:2006

For systems installed after August 2008 then the system must be tested and inspected and maintained to the new standard (BS EN 62305:2006 Protection Against Lightning). BS EN 62305 E.7.1 states ‘The Lightning Protection System should be visually inspected at least annually’. The statutory instrument applicable in the UK and published by the authority having jurisdiction is the Electricity at Work Regulation 1989 (EWR).

British standard BS EN 62305 states that a risk assessment must be carried out to determine what level of protection will be required. Central High Rise can offer a site survey and strike risk analysis using our experience and specialist software to determine what level of protection will be required if any, at no cost to their clients.


Installation of Lightning Protection

All of Central High Rise operatives are CSCS registered and are fully qualified in working at height. They can carry out remedial works or upgrades to existing systems all in  accordance with BS 6651:1999 or complete installations to new builds or to existing buildings all in accordance with BS EN 62305:2006. Due to their steeplejack roots they can gain access to a wide range of places that historically could only be reached via scaffolding. They pride themselves on offering a complete service from start to finish and making sure their customer needs are satisfied and that they have peace of mind that the works will be carried out in a safe manner knowing Central High Rise will always put safety first.

Early streamer emission systems

If cost or the aesthetics of the building is an issue then Central High Rise can offer the supply and installation of Early streamer emission systems. The ESE standard, NF C 17 – 102, is from a Member State of Europe. These systems will be installed to their  usual high standard and safe practices of works.
