Holy Trinity Church, Leeds gets user friendly heating - with reduced costs
When Holy Trinity Church in Leeds wanted to reduce the large running costs they were paying to keep the church warm they contacted Manchester based church heating specialists HeatinGlobal and entrusted them with the task of making a more user friendly system with reduced costs.
The current church boiler was around 40-50 years old and was in desperate need of changing. The church pipe work however was in good condition and just required some simple cleaning out and chemical testing.
The church boiler was located under the church and therefore had to be broken down into sections for removal. The new boiler - also a very large and bulky unit - had to be broken down and re-built in place. The new boiler was fitted onto the existing flue which was tested and passed all its flow checks. The current circulation pump was replaced for a new Grunfoss Eco Magna 1 Pump to speed up warm up times and reduce overall running costs.
All the existing system was power flushed through and connected to a filter system to ensure the church boiler and radiators stayed clean and clear all year round. The existing controls were moved into the church vestry from the current boiler room and added thermostats was installed in the main church. The whole project was completed in 5 days so no Sunday service was disrupted.
Ann, the church verger, was full of praise at the finished result:
"Thank you for all your help and hard work, there is now more storage space in the church boiler room and the heating works fantastic. We haven’t had chance to check running cost as yet but the church now for the first time in years is reaching 20 degrees in under 2 hours. Thanks again"
