UK's first 10m LGMG diesel scissor lifts go underground
Rental specialist PG Platforms has taken delivery of the first LGMG SR818D diesel scissor lifts to be sold in the UK and has sent them straight out on a highway tunnel maintenance project.
Company Managing Director Steve Cutting said he was impressed with the build quality, easy operation and specification of the Chinese-made self-propelled scissor lifts, which made them ideal for working at height in tunnels.
He added: "When I saw they had hydraulic oil coolers I was very happy to take them. Access platforms often need to travel a fair distance in long tunnels to get to worksites and overheating hydraulic oil is an issue.
"The cooling system on these LGMG SR818Ds means that's not likely to be something they suffer from. They also have large decks and can carry up to four operatives which is important for tunnel work where multiple operatives often have to work together to install large and bulky equipment, such as lighting, ducting and air filtration systems."
Steve Cutting viewed the first LGMG SR818Ds to arrive in the UK at the Cambridgeshire headquarters of Access Platform Sales, distributor for LGMG in the UK and Ireland.
He said: "The scissor lifts are clearly well built and they're easy to operate, which is something our clients always appreciate. Also APS was able to fulfill my order straight away, and with their excellent back-up service, it was an easy decision to take the LGMG scissor lifts."
APS Southern Sales Director Lee Louder said: "We're delighted Steve and his team at PG Platforms have shown their confidence in LGMG and our service support. We don't think he, or is customers, will be disappointed.
"Like all LGMG platforms, the LGMG SR818D is designed with a fierce focus on preferences of rental providers and end-users. It's packed with smart features to make it safe, reliable and easy to use."
The LGMG SR818D diesel scissor lift has a maximum working height of 9.7 metres. It has a platform that measures 2970mm by 1600mm, with an extension deck of 1520mm.
The platform has an impressive maximum capacity of four operatives and a maximum weight capacity of 680kg. The extension deck has a maximum capacity of 140kg.
The scissor lift is powered by a Kubota D1105 engine. It has four-wheel drive, with front wheel steering. It can be driven at full height, has a stowed gradeability of 40% and a turning radius of 4.75 metres.
The LGMG SR818D is one of a comprehensive range of scissor lifts and cherry pickers available from APS, all with the same combination of robust quality, ease-of-use, smart features and value for money.
They include the LGMG SS0407E, an electric scissor lift with a maximum working height of 5.6m, and the all-terrain LGMG SR-1623D diesel scissor lift, with a maximum working height of 18m, a platform proving highly popular with curtain wall installers, roofers and across the UK.
Aerial booms include the LGMG AE14J articulating diesel cherry picker, with a maximum working height of 16.09m, and the LGMG T26J telescopic diesel cherry picker, with a maximum working height of 27.9m.
PG Platforms is based near Maidstone in Kent and has strong expertise in the highway sector. Its diverse fleet includes a wide range of scissor lifts and boom lifts, as well as Hinowa spider booms and van and truck-mounted platforms.
